Sound Design Collaborators
My Recommendations for the Sound Design
This week our group was introduced to some sound designers on Ba courses. These people will collaborate with us to produce sound for our project.
Roles:
Tim – Music composition.
Rafaella and Emmanuel – Sounds and FX.
The Plan so Far
Tim will make two versions of the composition, a dark and a light version.
The sound effects could include:
- bee buzzing (dulled to merge with atmospheric noise.
- collecting pollen
- bees emerge from hive
- wind
My Composition Design Proposal
The following is the document contents that I sent to Tim:
This is my personal proposal of what I imagine the sound composition to be like. Do not use this as a rule book since I will discuss and edit these suggestions with the rest of the team.
There should be two compositions, or two versions of the same composition with different tones. I imagine the music to be slow, quiet, not a fast beat, atmospheric and mellow. Not to be played too loudly nor overpower the visuals. But enough to get the audience immersed in the game.
I am a personal fan of piano and violin, plus the bagpipes from Brave. But you can use whatever you wish.
The first comp will fit with a barren land, melancholier and more desolate. Something that the game ‘Journey’. See link at 2:30 mins:
The second composition should fit with the part of the game where the main character has made significant progress rejuvenating the landscape. Something happier, like the song from Brave ‘Fate and Destiny’.
Primarily, the above are only suggestions based on how I imagine the comp to be like. It would be great if you could make short samples with different versions, and we can let you know which we like best. Overall, it is up to you where you want to go with this, it can be however you like it so BE FREE and play however you like.
Here is a Youtube playlist I made (click the link):
